Off camera flash
Off camera flash
Lit by the sun from above and by off camera flash from below. This image using the Oly 60mm macro lens shows just how teeming with life the small can be. Have you ever tried off camera flash? You can use it up close about level with the camera in this case to highlight detail and add contrast from the strongly back lit leaves or you can hold it further away to be more subtle. The portable sun is always handy in macro and portrait photography. Learning to be subtle with it so you don't blow out your subject is the key. In this case the abundance of light allowed for a decent shutter speed and a decent depth of field.
